Supplier Development Engineer needed for a direct hire opportunity with Yohs client located in Greensboro, NC.
The Big Picture : Top Skills You Should Possess:
1. Working knowledge of manufacturing processes and the ability to support supplier development activities, continuous improvement initiatives and quality management tools.
2. Working knowledge and understanding of the principles of capacity management, quality management, lean manufacturing within an industrial environment.
3. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel and Power Point).
4. Ability to read engineering drawings, tolerances and dimensional data.
5. Ability to effectively interface with suppliers and internal teams to be able to influence and/or lead change necessary to execute strategy and achieve goals.
What Youll Be Doing:
1. Develops collaborative relationships with suppliers and work closely with leaders to manage and implement supplier / engineering changes, new product introductions, and transfers
2. Interfaces with suppliers engineering, service, manufacturing and procurement to drive cost effective manufacturing process improvements that optimize throughput, minimize waste
3. Coordinates with customer service, engineering, manufacturing engineering, procurement and supplier quality on component quality / delivery issues and supplier initiatives. Implement corrective and preventive action plans and execute accordingly.
4. Organizes and conducts Kaizen events using known event methodology to undertake transactional and manufacturing opportunities, thus increasing process efficiency and driving events to completion and expected results.
5. Communicates best practices and performance indicators as needed to suppliers and process owners and promotes future event coordination and execution as requested by functional managers.
6. Undertakes both lean and six:sigma projects as required by process needs. Projects must comprehend the use of established business tools such as DMAIC, DFSS, Lean and voice of the customer techniques, thus promoting its continuous use by team participants and process owners as needed by the project key performance indicators.
What You Need to Bring to the Table:
1. Bachelors degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or Operations Management from a four:year college or university is required.
2. 5+ years of relevant work experience as a Supplier Development Engineer, Supplier Quality Engineer, or in another engineering role responsible for developing, managing and improving supplier relationships, processes and efficiencies is required.
3. Previous experience within manufacturing as an Industrial Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer, Process Engineer, or directly related engineering role focused on process improvement is preferred.
4. Previous experience with new product development and/or with production ramp:up from low:rate (prototype) production into high rate (mass production) is preferred.
5. Previous experience within aerospace manufacturing is highly preferred.
6. Six Sigma certification is preferred.
